Starting in January 2026, Romania will begin operating as an important NATO logistics center that will help Ukraine receive military support.

The new hub will work in conjunction with the existing center in Rzeszów, Poland, and will provide additional routes for supplying weapons and equipment to eastern and southern Ukraine, including Donbas and coastal areas.
NATO notes that the Romanian center will reduce the risks of dependence on a single logistics hub and will create a stable “southern route” for supplies.
The hub will be integrated into Ukraine’s operational needs system. This will make it possible to more effectively supply artillery, air defense, and electronic warfare systems, as well as to attract funding from European countries.
The PURL mechanism is intended to guarantee continuity of arms supplies even in the event of changes in U.S. policy.
This year alone, about 220,000 tons of military aid have already been delivered to Ukraine through existing channels. With the opening of the Romanian hub, logistics are expected to become even more efficient, with priority given to the supply of “deep strike” systems to hit Russian infrastructure in the rear.
