November military exercises in Romania showed that in the event of a Russian attack, the country would have to hold off the aggressor on its own for several weeks until NATO forces reach the Romanian front.

According to Bloomberg, the deployment of French armored vehicles to Romania took 10 days due to border delays and complex routing. NATO representatives acknowledged that such logistical barriers could be fatal in a real conflict.
Despite the modernization of the Romanian army, the main problem remains logistics and the speed of allies’ response. Against the backdrop of the planned reduction of US military presence in Europe, European officials express serious concern about the ability to ensure their own defense without American support.
