🔍 Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov is currently neither a suspect nor a witness in the case regarding possible abuses during food procurement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the head of the First Main Unit of NABU detectives, Oleksandr Abakumov, in an interview with “Radio Svoboda.”

📝 Abakumov emphasized that the investigation has sufficient evidence to notify five individuals of suspicion, including the former head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense. He noted that for the investigation, it does not matter whether the suspect is a minister, deputy minister, or another official.
📊 The investigation began after a journalistic investigation by ZN.UA in January 2023, which revealed inflated prices for army food procurement. In particular, eggs were purchased at 17 UAH per piece (compared to 7 UAH in stores), and potatoes at 22 UAH per kilogram, which significantly exceeded market prices.
💬 This caused widespread public outcry and led to the Ministry of Defense leadership being summoned to a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.
🕵️♂️ NABU and SAP had launched their own investigation into abuses in food procurement for the Armed Forces worth 13.16 billion UAH even before the journalistic report was published. The investigation is ongoing, and new suspicions may be announced. However, at the moment, there are no grounds for summoning Oleksii Reznikov for questioning.
🏛️ The transfer of the case to court depends on the further collection of evidence and the decision of law enforcement agencies regarding new suspects or the completion of the pre-trial investigation.
