Rubio emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program is the key reason for the current crisis in relations between the countries.
According to him, the United States considers the nuclear issue the main priority in any negotiations.
“They are serious about how to buy more time,” Rubio noted, adding that Iran is an experienced negotiator and is trying to secure more favorable conditions for itself.
He also stressed that any agreement must guarantee the final blocking of Tehran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons.
The Secretary of State separately pointed out the complexity of the negotiation process, stating that the United States is effectively engaging not only with official Iranian representatives but also with various internal political groups that influence decision-making in Tehran.
