According to the head of state, the Russian budget deficit of around $100 billion cannot be offset by short-term geopolitical conflicts.
He noted that the war in the Middle East has so far helped Russia cover only about 10% of its financial needs.
Zelenskyy also emphasized that the escalation in Iran is affecting the global balance of power: it strengthens Russia, creates additional pressure on the United States and European energy markets.
The President separately stressed that such a situation complicates China’s position, forcing it to balance between the roles of mediator and participant in economic processes.
According to him, energy risks caused by new conflicts may have long-term consequences for global security and could affect the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine.
