Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the U.S. proposed splitting the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant among three parties — Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia.

The head of state emphasized that such a proposal is unfair, as the ZNPP belongs to Ukraine. “The Russians consider it ‘their plant’ because they occupied it. They do not recognize either rules or law,” Zelensky stated.
The president stressed that the plant remains militarized and in a dangerous situation. As a result, only a limited number of personnel are working there, and issues such as housing for Ukrainian specialists and the restoration of the plant require separate arrangements.
Additionally, Zelensky highlighted the need to repair the dam destroyed by Russia in temporarily occupied territories and to coordinate actions with the IAEA. He noted that the ZNPP is a multi-layered issue that involves not only electricity and finances but also safety and infrastructure.
