Earlier, Warsaw decided to close the Russian consulate in Gdańsk, with Russians required to vacate the building by the end of December 23. However, the Russian side refused to comply, informing the Gdańsk city authorities that an “administrative-technical employee” would remain in the building. The embassy also stated that it retains the right to use the premises even after the consulate’s closure.
“Those who want to seize the building of the Russian Consulate General in Gdańsk should carefully consider the consequences of such a step,” Zakharova emphasized. She added that Russia has already shown examples of how it responds to “injustice” against the country, and these responses could be painful for violators.
