During the visit, Jolie spoke with families and hospital staff who work daily under constant threats of drones and shelling. She saw how special protective nets are being installed over roads in the cities, and how medical and educational facilities are being relocated to underground spaces to ensure uninterrupted operations even during attacks.
“The residents of Mykolaiv and Kherson live in danger every day, but they refuse to give up. At a time when governments around the world are turning away from protecting civilians, their strength and mutual support are remarkable. After nearly three years of conflict, the exhaustion is visible, but so is the determination. Ukrainians want safety, peace, and the chance to rebuild their lives,” the actress said.
Jolie emphasized that Ukrainians share much in common with people enduring prolonged wars in other parts of the world. Her visit served as a gesture of support for the Ukrainian people, who continue to fight for freedom and humanity even under fire.
