Ukraine intends to allocate at least $120 billion for defense needs next year. Currently, just one day of the war costs the country’s budget $172 million — more than last year, said Roksolana Pidlasa, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget, at the Yalta European Strategy conference.

She clarified that these expenditures include salaries for the military, procurement of weapons and ammunition, as well as payments for the wounded, missing, and the families of the deceased. According to Pidlasa, Ukraine spends 31% of its GDP on defense — the highest rate in the world.
Kyiv plans to cover half of the amount from its own resources, while another $60 billion is expected from international partners in the form of weapons and ammunition.
The lawmaker urged the international community to allow the use of budgetary support for military purchases and to more actively use frozen Russian assets.
