👩💼 In particular, Vice Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has been nominated for the post of Prime Minister. She is a well-known figure in the U.S., having participated in strategic negotiations with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding the development of mineral resources in Ukraine.
📨 Zelensky also stated that current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will take over the Ministry of Defense, replacing Rustem Umerov.
🇺🇸 Last week, the president announced that Umerov is the leading candidate to become Ukraine’s new ambassador to the United States. This would trigger large-scale changes within the government. Current ambassador Oksana Markarova has not yet been dismissed, but she faces criticism from Trump allies for her alleged sympathies toward the Democrats.
📞 According to Bloomberg, Zelensky discussed replacing Markarova during a recent conversation with Trump.
💬 The president’s team is actively working to establish direct contact with the White House. As one former high-ranking official noted: “A new ambassador, a new prime minister, a new government — it’s part of a diplomatic strategy.”
📣 Political analyst Mykola Davydiuk explained that appointing Svyrydenko is “a signal to Trump” of Ukraine’s readiness for deeper economic cooperation, especially concerning strategic resources.
📝 On Facebook, Svyrydenko stated that the new government’s priorities will include strengthening the economy, expanding support programs for Ukrainians, and developing domestic arms production.
🛡️ In his address, Zelensky emphasized that Shmyhal’s “vast experience” will allow him to work effectively under high responsibility in the defense sector.
⚙️ According to Ukrainian media, further changes are possible — including replacing Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and merging several economic ministries. However, no official statements on this have been made yet.
📅 The new appointments must be approved by the Verkhovna Rada.
