Trump posted on Truth Social following a statement by House Speaker Mike Johnson, who noted that a vote on declassifying Justice Department materials would help dispel suspicions of any connection between Trump and Epstein’s crimes.
“Republicans must vote to release the Epstein files because we have nothing to hide. It’s time to end this Democratic deception,” Trump said, adding that it distracts from the Republican Party’s achievements.
The topic of the documents has sparked controversy even among Trump’s allies in Congress. Some supporters believe that authorities are withholding important materials that could reveal Epstein’s connections with influential figures.
After criticism regarding his handling of the files, Trump withdrew support for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a former loyal ally.
