During a conversation with journalists, Trump said he disagrees with the Pope’s position on Iran’s nuclear program and called him “not his supporter.”
In posts on the social network Truth Social, he also wrote that the Pope is “weak on crime” and “terrible in foreign policy.”
Trump claims he does not want a Vatican leader who considers Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons acceptable or who criticizes U.S. actions.
At the same time, the article notes that Pope Leo XIV previously called for a reduction in violence and negotiations regarding the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, emphasizing the need for a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.
