During a virtual conversation with American service members, Trump emphasized:
“You’ve probably noticed that people don’t want to ship cargo by sea, and we will begin stopping them on land as well. It’s easier to do this on land, and we will start doing it very soon.”
According to Reuters, the Trump administration is considering new measures against Venezuela, accusing President Nicolás Maduro of involvement in illegal drug trafficking destined for the United States. Maduro denies these allegations.
Since September, U.S. forces have carried out at least 21 strikes on vessels suspected of transporting narcotics in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. At least 83 people have been killed during these operations.
In recent weeks, reports about a possible expansion of U.S. actions have become more frequent amid increasing American military presence in the Caribbean region and further deterioration of relations with Venezuela.
