According to YouGov, at the beginning of his second term the gap between supporters and critics was only 2%, but it has now widened to 18%. The number of Americans who believe the country is moving in the right direction has dropped to 31%.
The main reasons for dissatisfaction are economic issues. Americans criticize Trump for failing to fulfill key promises—reducing inflation and stopping illegal immigration.
Support has fallen particularly sharply among low-income citizens: only 31% of Americans earning up to $50,000 approve of the president’s performance, while 65% disapprove.
A CNN poll also shows negative assessments: 58% of respondents consider the first year of Trump’s second term a failure, and 55% believe his policies have worsened the economic situation in the United States.
Only 36% of Americans think the president has the right priorities, and just one-third believe he cares about the interests of ordinary citizens.
