🇺🇸 U.S. President Donald Trump announced a series of new tariff measures affecting imports of copper, goods from Brazil and South Korea, as well as the cancellation of tax exemptions for small international packages.

🧰 Starting August 1, a 50% tariff will take effect on imports of copper pipes and wires. At the same time, copper raw materials — ore, concentrates, cathodes — will not be subject to the new tariffs as previously expected.
🌎 Regarding Brazil, Trump introduced 50% tariffs on most goods from the country. The reason, according to him, is a “witch hunt” against former President Jair Bolsonaro. Exceptions are made for the aviation, energy sectors, and orange juice industry. The new tariffs will start on August 6 — although initially planned for August 1.
📦 Trump also canceled the de minimis exemption, which allowed duty-free import of goods up to $800. Now, starting August 29, all packages arriving in the U.S. outside the official international postal system will be taxed under standard tariffs.
🇰🇷 Imports from South Korea were also targeted: a new 15% tariff will replace the previous 25% rate. According to the White House, this is part of a new bilateral trade agreement.
📊 Economists predict that Trump’s initiatives will affect global trade chains and may prompt retaliatory actions from the affected countries. The White House insists that the changes aim to protect American manufacturers and “restore fairness in foreign trade.”
