The United States has no objections to Russia or other countries supplying oil to Cuba. This was stated by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to The New York Times.

According to Trump, “We are not against anyone getting a large shipment because they need it — they need to survive. If any country wants to send some oil to Cuba right now, I have no problem with it. Whether it’s Russia or not. The oil supply will have no impact, because Cuba is finished. They have a bad regime and corrupt leadership.”
Earlier, NYT reported, citing sources, that the U.S. Coast Guard allowed a Russian oil tanker to reach Cuba. The tanker is carrying approximately 730,000 barrels of oil and, as of the evening of March 29, was a few miles from Cuba’s territorial waters. Traveling at 12 knots, it could reach the city of Matanzas by the evening of March 30.
Analysts note that the arrival of the Russian tanker will provide Cuba with at least several weeks of fuel supplies. This will reduce economic pressure on the country’s government and demonstrate that the island can still rely on support from its longtime ally — Russia.
