Polish General Roman Polko, former commander of the GROM special forces unit, said on Espreso TV that Europe’s strength in countering Russian aggression lies in unity and solidarity.

The general emphasized that the EU must support Ukraine much more actively, as talking about peace negotiations without any concessions from Russia is meaningless. According to him, all the pressure aimed at “forcing peace” somehow falls on Ukraine, which they are trying to push toward capitulation, giving up territories, and even making changes to its Constitution.
Polko stressed that concessions to the Kremlin would create a dangerous precedent:
Putin would make similar demands to Poland — up to leaving NATO and the EU.
The general urged people not to give in to blackmail:
Europe needs to unite and explain to Donald Trump’s administration that any actions breaking Western solidarity work in Putin’s interests.
He also mentioned internal challenges: the role of Viktor Orbán, who blocks European decisions, and pro-Russian circles in Poland. Polko emphasized that Poles must understand a simple truth:
Ukraine’s defeat would mean war on Polish soil, because Russia will not stop.
