In Washington, preparations are underway for a prolonged confrontation with Iran: the U.S. Central Command has requested the Pentagon to send additional personnel to support an operation that could last at least 100 days, reports Politico.

According to the publication, additional military intelligence officers will be sent to the headquarters in Tampa, Florida, to support operations against Iran until September. This is the first known instance in which the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump openly increases intelligence personnel for conducting a war with Iran.
Politico journalists note that this move indicates the possible preparation of a campaign longer than the initially announced four-week conflict period. The unusual rapid buildup of personnel and resources may suggest an underestimation of the scope of consequences of military actions launched jointly with Israel.
Former diplomat Gerald Feierstein emphasized that the operation appears improvised, and it seems the decision to begin hostilities was made hastily, without fully understanding the consequences.
