US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated that the entire southern border wall with Mexico will be painted black so that it heats up and makes illegal migration more difficult. The initiative comes from President Donald Trump.

During a visit to the wall in New Mexico, Noem personally took a roller and helped with the painting. She highlighted the height and depth of the structure as effective means to deter attempts to climb over or go under it.
“This is done specifically at the request of the President, who understands that in high temperatures it will be even harder for people to climb over. That’s why we will paint the entire wall black, to discourage illegal entry into the country,” Noem said.
