According to Axios, Washington is proposing that Europe impose sanctions on russia, including a complete halt to oil and gas purchases, as well as secondary tariffs against India and China, similar to those already applied by the US.
A White House representative noted that Europe cannot “prolong this war and set unrealistic expectations, relying on America to cover the costs.” He added that if Europe chooses stricter measures, it is their decision, but the risks for them increase.
Sources from India Today add that the White House is asking European countries to adopt sanctions similar to the US measures against India, including a complete stop of oil and gas supplies from New Delhi. The US is also proposing secondary tariffs for India if it does not cease purchasing russian oil.
