The United States and European leaders are working on creating a security guarantees package for Ukraine, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.

According to them, the guarantees will focus on strengthening Ukraine’s armed forces and capabilities without any restrictions, including on troop numbers. This is intended to prevent russia from attempting to impose such conditions during negotiations to end the war.
The package is expected to build on the work of the “Coalition of the Willing” and provide for the creation of multinational units, although the format of their participation has not yet been determined.
Leaders also expressed support for the idea of “Article 5-like guarantees” proposed by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. At the same time, the exact mechanisms and the role of the US in these agreements are yet to be finalized.
