The UN spokesperson declined to predict the outcomes of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, noting: “We are not making bets… We do, however, welcome high-level dialogue between these two permanent members of the Security Council.”
Dujarric emphasized that a ceasefire would be the first step toward comprehensive peace and adherence to UN resolutions. “We want an immediate, full, and unconditional ceasefire as the first step toward a just, sustainable, and comprehensive peace that will uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence within internationally recognized borders,” he stated.
The UN also noted that it will closely monitor the summit and its outcomes.
