Bloomberg sources report that the Gulf countries are strengthening their air defense systems. The UAE is seeking support from allies in medium-range air defense, while Qatar focuses on countering drone attacks.
The goal of both states is a swift diplomatic resolution of the conflict and to prevent regional escalation. Delays in restoring shipping routes threaten spikes in natural gas prices and harm the region’s economies, tourism, and foreign investment.
According to Qatar’s estimates, the impact of disruptions in transport and energy infrastructure could be felt by midweek, while gas prices in Europe rose 50% following Iranian drone attacks on the world’s largest liquefied gas plant.
