The Taliban’s top army commander, Fasihuddin Fitrat, rejected US President Donald Trump’s demand to return the Bagram airbase, stating that any hostility would provoke the “strongest” response. Bloomberg reported this.

“Afghanistan is completely independent, it is governed by its own people, and it does not depend on any foreign state. We are not afraid of any bully or aggressor,” Fitrat emphasized on Sunday, September 21, on state television in Kabul.
Earlier, Trump threatened the Taliban-led country with “bad things” if it failed to meet his demand regarding the base. He also criticized his predecessor Joe Biden for the rapid withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, which left military equipment and the Bagram base to the Taliban.
Bagram, once the largest American military base in Afghanistan, is now used by the Taliban to showcase captured weapons and equipment. The base has become a symbol of the group’s victory and is regularly displayed during official visits and military parades.
