The Pentagon and the governments of several Persian Gulf states are holding talks on the possible use of Ukrainian interceptor drones to counter Iranian Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing representatives of Ukraine’s defense industry.

According to the publication, Middle Eastern countries have recently been actively using Patriot system missiles to defend against attacks by Iranian drones. However, the high cost of interception and the reduction of missile stockpiles have forced them to look for cheaper alternatives, turning their attention to Ukraine’s experience in combating massive drone attacks.
Financial Times notes that Ukraine has become one of the pioneers in the use of mass-produced interceptor drones. Such systems cost only a few thousand dollars but are capable of effectively destroying Shahed-136 type drones.
Among the Ukrainian developers creating such systems is the company “General Chereshnia.” It produces the high-speed interceptor drone “General Chereshnia Bullet,” designed to destroy Shahed-type drones.
Sources in the defense sector confirm the growing interest in Ukrainian technologies. Although the topic of cooperation with the Pentagon remains sensitive, the effectiveness and low cost of such systems make them attractive to international partners.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has also reported negotiations with the leaders of Persian Gulf states regarding the use of Ukrainian technologies to counter drones. At the same time, Kyiv emphasizes that international cooperation in this area should not weaken Ukraine’s own defense capabilities.
Amid the growing role of drones in modern warfare, Ukrainian interceptor drones may become one of the most cost-effective solutions for protection against massive attacks.
