🗳️ The vote was initiated by Deputy Derek Booyswick. He emphasized that several countries had already officially recognized these actions as a crime of genocide by the USSR.
📂 The text of the decision also mentions the recent persecution of Crimean Tatars by russia since 2014, including arrests, torture, and disappearances, which, according to the authors of the document, continue the genocidal policy of the USSR.
⚖️ The Dutch Parliament urged the government to consider the possibility of officially recognizing this crime in accordance with international law.
🤝 Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga thanked the Netherlands for this step, calling it an act of solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people, who continue to face persecution today.
📣 “Thank you to the Netherlands for becoming the seventh country outside Ukraine to recognize this crime as genocide. I urge other states to do the same,” emphasized Sybiga.
