According to her, no document was developed or approved that would restrict freedom of speech or provide for sanctions against delegation members for their statements. The methodological recommendations provided together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports only concerned contacts with neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus and were organizational and explanatory in nature.
The NOC emphasized that no monitoring of compliance with so-called “forbidden topics” was conducted, and no disciplinary measures were planned for comments that do not contradict Ukrainian law or the Olympic Charter.
Earlier, a member of the Ukrainian delegation at the Winter Olympics told Espreso that delegates were allegedly given a list of forbidden topics, including corruption in Ukraine, army issues, and lack of state funding. The NOC denied these claims, stating that the provided recommendations concerned only organizational matters.
