💬 The International Monetary Fund has never demanded that Ukraine introduce value-added tax (VAT) for sole proprietors. This was written on Facebook by former Minister of Social Policy Pavlo Rozenko.

“There is a problem. I read pompous posts saying that the government heroically agreed with the IMF not to introduce VAT for sole proprietors. But there is one issue: the IMF never demanded this. The idea of introducing VAT for sole proprietors is an internal initiative of our government. After that, society exploded. And this idea had no chance of passing through the Verkhovna Rada,” the former minister noted.
According to him, the government itself created the problem and then “messed it up and is now presenting it as a victory.”
“Traditional scheme: you create a problem yourself — then heroically solve it. Maybe it’s time to stop creating artificial problems for Ukrainians?” Rozenko added.
As previously reported, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the introduction of VAT for sole proprietors is not currently planned.
