The European Union has provided Ukraine with financial assistance amounting to €5.9 billion, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko reported. Of this sum, €4.1 billion was received through the ERA Loans mechanism — the final tranche of an €18 billion program funded by frozen Russian assets. Another €1.8 billion was allocated under the Ukraine Facility.

The funds are directed toward supporting macro-financial stability, restoring critical infrastructure, and strengthening the economy during the war that Russia continues to wage against Ukraine.
Svyrydenko emphasized that EU assistance is the result of strategic partnership and trust, demonstrating unwavering European solidarity. According to her, this is a clear example of how Russia is already starting to answer for its own crimes — since part of the funding comes from Russian assets frozen after the full-scale invasion.
The Prime Minister stressed that these resources allow Ukraine to direct more of its own funds toward defense and civilian protection. She thanked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as well as Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis and Marta Kos, for their role in supporting Ukraine.
“This assistance saves lives, restores critical infrastructure, and supports economic stability even in the toughest times — during the largest war in Europe since World War II,” Svyrydenko noted.
She added that Europe continues to stand with Ukraine, and the aggressor will inevitably pay for its actions: “Justice will prevail.”
