🖊️ Czech President Petr Pavel has signed an amendment to the Criminal Code equating the propaganda of communist ideology with that of Nazism. The new provisions stipulate up to 5 years in prison for supporting movements that threaten human rights and freedoms.

🚫 The law prohibits the creation, support, or promotion of any ideologies aimed at suppressing human rights or inciting hatred — racial, ethnic, religious, class-based, and others.
🏛️ The amendment is a response to appeals from Czech academic institutions, particularly the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, which had long called for closing the legal “gap” concerning communism.
📣 Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM), led by Kateřina Konečná, criticized the new measure, calling it politically motivated. It remains unclear how the law will affect the party’s activities.
