🧱 The adoption of the new, 18th package of European Union sanctions against russia is currently blocked by two member states — Slovakia and Hungary.

🕊️ According to a diplomat from one of the leading EU countries speaking on condition of anonymity, during the EU ambassadors’ meeting on Friday, both countries opposed the introduction of the new restrictions.
⚡ Slovakia is demanding guarantees from the European Commission regarding potential energy consequences of refusing russian gas after 2028.
🤐 Hungary did not present clear conditions but also blocked the decision by withholding consent for the new package.
📅 The discussion of EU sanctions policy has been postponed at least until July 3 — the date of the European Commission representatives’ visit to Bratislava.
