Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, stated that the European Union should not provide financial support to Ukraine following a corruption scandal at the state enterprise “Energoatom.” This was reported by Reuters.

Szijjártó claimed that a “military mafia and a corrupt system” allegedly operate in Ukraine, and he called the European Commission’s decision to allocate additional funds “madness.”
“Instead of stopping payments and demanding immediate financial cleansing, it wants to send Ukraine another 100 billion. This is madness,” he said.
Although Kyiv, after the exposure of embezzlement totaling around $100 million, has already dismissed two ministers and initiated several investigations, the Hungarian diplomat did not consider these actions sufficient.
“Time is not on Ukraine’s side. It is an illusion to claim that time is on Ukraine’s side,” Szijjártó added.
Meanwhile, in Washington, President Donald Trump’s administration insists that support for Ukraine must be tied to clear oversight mechanisms and transparency, while remaining strategically important for the security of Europe and NATO.
