According to him, the key task of the Defense Forces at this stage is the destruction of the enemy’s aerial attack assets, which Russia uses on a daily basis. It is precisely real military results, Syrsky emphasized, that create the foundation for successful diplomacy as well.
Strengthening the interceptor UAV direction remains a priority. This involves increasing the number of such drones, ground stations, and radar systems, as well as expanding the scale and quality of crew training.
Within the layered air defense system, interception lines are already being established at a distance from major cities. The number of uses of interceptor drones and their effectiveness are gradually increasing; however, according to the Commander-in-Chief, the pace of work needs to be accelerated.
Syrsky also reported the formation of divisions of unmanned air defense systems and the creation of regular interceptor UAV units within training centers. To counter Shahed drones, resources from army and light aviation are being employed, along with support from international partners.
He stressed that the enemy is actively exploiting weather conditions, modernizing strike drones, and changing their tactics of use, in particular attacking at extremely low altitudes. In response, Ukraine is also modernizing its countermeasures and changing its defense system in order to achieve the required results.
