🗣️ The mayor of the Swiss town of Wigoltingen, Franca Burkhardt, stated in an interview with the local outlet SVP about growing difficulties with some Ukrainians holding “S” status. According to her, certain refugees show disrespect toward local authorities and refuse to integrate into Swiss society.

📊 Currently, about 70,000 Ukrainians in Switzerland hold “S” status — it grants them the right to work, study, access healthcare, and move freely within the country.
⚠️ Burkhardt noted that a segment of refugees who arrived from less war-affected regions demonstrates “entitlement” and unwillingness to cooperate with local authorities. She mentioned statements like: “I don’t want to live with Afghans.”
🔍 In the mayor’s opinion, such problems are “not present in the same way” among other refugee groups. She pointed out a lack of gratitude, willingness to work, or desire to integrate, which causes tension in communities.
💬 Burkhardt cited Afghan refugees as an example, saying they show more willingness to adapt — they learn the language, work, and act responsibly during their stay in the country.
