Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that in the event of a violation of the country’s airspace, actions will first follow established protocols rather than immediately ordering drones to be shot down. He said this in an interview while commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s call to shoot down Russian drones crossing NATO airspace.

Stubb clarified that the process begins with verification and notification of the relevant services, after which the Air Force decides on further actions.
He also firmly rejected statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about NATO and the EU allegedly declaring war on Russia over Ukraine: “We are not at war with Russia,” the Finnish president emphasized.
According to him, President Putin is pursuing a two-track strategy — a full-scale war in Ukraine and a hybrid war in the West, which is manifested, in particular, through communication disruptions in the Baltic region and recent drone incursions. Stubb called for maintaining calm while simultaneously strengthening defense to prevent such incidents from recurring.
