Russian forces have intensified actions near the border of Sumy region, attempting to capture border villages and establish a “zone of influence” up to 20 kilometers deep. To achieve this, the occupiers are using a tactic of localized attacks with small units without large-scale assaults, known in military terminology as “tactical diversionary actions” or the “thousand cuts” tactic.

Gradual advances in certain sections of the border are occurring even where there is no full-fledged front line. Russian units are trying to expand control over territory with small forces, avoiding the use of heavy equipment or large assault groups.
Commander of the Joint Forces Group, Mykhailo Drapatyi, reported that Ukrainian forces have already identified 12 potential areas for enemy advancement. In these directions, the occupiers may operate with forces ranging from a company to a battalion. The Krasnopilskyi, Velykopysarivskyi, and Zolochivskyi districts are considered particularly dangerous, where Russian troops may attempt to expand control along the border.
