During his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, Petro Poroshenko urged members of parliament, amid a major energy crisis, to amend the State Budget, eliminate corruption schemes, and direct funds toward defense.

Poroshenko emphasized that corruption weakens the country’s defense against enemy missiles and Shaheds.
“Today, the parliament must make a decision regarding the future of our state. The parliament has a chance to regain its agency. The parliament has a chance to take a significant step — forming a national unity government, deremakizing and demindizing the country. This sounds particularly important given the situation in Kyiv and across the country,” said the fifth President.
“I want to stress that Ukraine’s skies are open not only due to Russia’s improved means of attack but also because of corruption, confirmed by the ‘Mindich tapes,’ not only in energy and defense sectors, where the country was left without weapons and air defense, but also in the Verkhovna Rada, where there is further evidence of envelopes being handed to MPs. Five deputies have been charged with corruption and receiving bribes,” Poroshenko reminded.
“Today, more than ever, it is crucial to adopt budget amendments that stop the financial flows on which Yermak’s associates were profiting. This means transferring financial resources to the Armed Forces — from the single marathon, from communication strategies, from bribes to society during election preparation. Parliament must once again declare that elections are only possible after the war is stopped. Otherwise, the results of these pseudo-elections will not be recognized by anyone,” said Poroshenko.
“But above all, we must now focus on the army, on language, on faith, on the EU and NATO. This is what must unite the parliament and the country,” Petro Poroshenko stated.
