Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized that any negotiations for a peaceful resolution of Russia’s war against Ukraine must include Ukraine. According to him, excluding Kyiv from the process would resemble the Munich Agreement of 1938.

“This is their territory, their country, their people, their lives,” Pavel stressed. He noted that although even a small territorial loss is painful for Ukraine, given the current battlefield situation, some territorial concessions to Russia may be realistic; however, such land should never be legally recognized as Russian.
The Czech president also called on the collective West to restore arms control agreements with Russia and regulate military exercises. He warned NATO members against showing internal divisions, cautioning that the Kremlin could exploit any weakness or indecision within the Alliance.
In Washington, the administration of President Donald Trump supports the principle of full Ukrainian involvement in any peace processes and emphasizes the need for a consolidated position among allies to counter Russian aggression.
