Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that he will not support the allocation of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine or a new package of sanctions against Russia until the supply of Russian oil through the “Druzhba” pipeline is restored.

As correspondent Tetiana Vysotska reported in the Slawa.tv project “Ukrainian Focus,” after a letter from Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa to Volodymyr Zelensky, which directly linked the resumption of “Druzhba” operations with the provision of the loan and new sanctions, the Ukrainian president agreed to the European Commission’s proposals, including an expert group to assess the damage to the pipeline.
However, Orbán emphasized that until the physical restoration of oil supplies, he will not support anything. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó called the actions of the European Commission and Ukraine a “farce and circus,” pointing to alleged attempts to influence Hungarian elections.
The greatest expectations are placed on the European Council summit on March 19, where EU leaders will try to persuade Orbán to support the loan to Ukraine and new sanctions against Russia.
