In a video statement on Facebook, Orbán said that the Ukrainian side allegedly cites technical issues as the reason for the pipeline’s inactivity, which poses a threat to the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia. According to information from Budapest and Bratislava, there are no technical obstacles, and the transit halt occurred “exclusively for political reasons.”
In response, Orbán announced an agreement with Fico to establish a joint investigative commission. The commission will conduct an on-site inspection to check the infrastructure’s condition and determine the real reasons for the pipeline stoppage.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also called on Zelensky to grant the commission access to Ukrainian territory and ensure proper conditions for the inspection.
