North Korean soldiers sent to fight for Russia in Ukraine are being forced to commit suicide if they risk being captured. Such orders from Kim Jong Un are reported by South Korean sources, according to Daily NK.

According to the outlet, Pyongyang has significantly increased ideological pressure on the troops that the Kremlin is actively deploying in the war against Ukraine. Before being sent to the front, soldiers attend mandatory political sessions. Twice a week, they are indoctrinated with the idea of a “heroic death” and shown stories of those who allegedly already blew themselves up on the battlefield.
These lectures are presented as “examples of courage.” Russian soldiers, meanwhile, are portrayed as less brave — supposedly unable to “sacrifice their lives instead of surrendering.”
Journalists at Daily NK note that North Korean propagandists use rhetoric similar to fanatical cult practices. Soldiers are promised “eternal life” if they commit suicide in war. A new slogan has already appeared among the troops: “Learn from the fighters who blew themselves up.”
South Korea emphasizes that such propaganda shows the regime’s complete disregard for the lives of its own citizens, who are being sent to die in a foreign war, serving the interests of the Kremlin.
