Currently, Russian citizens can stay in Montenegro without a visa for up to 30 days with a valid passport, a policy widely used by vacationers and tourists. The changes in visa policy will be part of Montenegro’s preparations for EU accession, planned for 2028.
Spajic emphasized that Montenegro already complies with the requirements of the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy and acts as a member country, even without official status. In addition to Russia, the country has already ended visa-free entry for citizens of Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, and Egypt to align rules with EU policy.
The new rules for Russians are expected to be implemented soon, marking another step in Montenegro’s preparation for full EU membership.
