📉 The American corporation Microsoft is completely leaving the Russian market — its subsidiary LLC “Microsoft Rus” plans to file for bankruptcy with the Moscow Arbitration Court.

🏦 The reason was financial claims from Gazprombank. In January 2024, the bank demanded to recover 90.9 million rubles under a technical support contract signed in September 2021. According to the plaintiff, Microsoft stopped fulfilling its obligations from April 2022, despite receiving payment.
⚖️ In April, the court partially satisfied the claim, ordering the recovery of $887 thousand of the principal debt and $62 thousand in interest — a total of $949 thousand. Further interest accrual until full repayment is also provided.
🏢 Although Microsoft began winding down operations in spring 2022, legally it remained present in russia until the end of 2024. Only in December 2024 – January 2025 did the company close all its offices in 13 cities, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk.
📊 The activity of “Microsoft Rus” sharply decreased after russia’s invasion of Ukraine: from revenue of 6.9 billion rubles in 2021 to 161.6 million in 2024. Despite this, the company recorded a profit of 174.1 million rubles.
