The Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Erlan Akkenzhenov commented on reports about a possible suspension of Kazakh oil exports to Germany via Russia starting May 1.

According to him, there has been no official confirmation from the Russian side yet, however unofficial sources suggest that the information may be true.
The minister noted that in May, transit through the “Atyrau–Samara” route and the “Druzhba” pipeline to the refinery in Schwedt could be effectively halted. Russia cites allegedly a lack of technical capacity for pumping as the reason.
Akkenzhenov suggested that this could be related to recent strikes on Russian infrastructure, but emphasized that this is only his assumption.
He also stated that Kazakhstan is already working on reallocating export volumes through other routes, including the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and supplies toward China. According to him, no reduction in oil production is expected.
The minister added that transit may be restored after technical issues are resolved.
