French President Emmanuel Macron commented on rumors about an allegedly “leaked” conversation among European leaders, in which concerns were discussed that the US might compromise the interests of Ukraine and Europe in negotiations with Moscow.

Macron noted that he has seen these rumors but emphasized: “The unity between Americans and Europeans on the Ukrainian issue is unwavering.” He stressed that what is needed is not distrust, but cooperation to support Ukraine, international law, and collective security.
The President added that Russia is currently not interested in genuine negotiations: “The only one who does not want peace is Russia. Because it wants ‘everything.’” Therefore, according to Macron, it is important to support military efforts, continue preparing for negotiations, and strengthen economic pressure on Russia.
