January 2026 set a record for the scale of use of guided aerial bombs by Russia. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the month, Russian aviation dropped over 5,700 FABs on positions of the Defense Forces and frontline settlements.

The previous record was recorded in October 2025, when the enemy used over 5,300 FABs.
On January 18, the Russian army set a daily anti-record by dropping 316 guided aerial bombs — the highest figure since the full-scale war began.
According to the General Staff, in January there were over 5,300 combat clashes (in December 2025 — over 5,500). The hottest day was January 31, when 338 battles were recorded.
In total, during the month, Russian forces carried out over 113,000 shellings, including more than 2,400 with multiple launch rocket systems.
