Budapest does not intend to join the European Union’s joint position on Greenland. This was stated at a press conference in Prague by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

According to him, the Hungarian authorities consider the issue of Greenland to be bilateral and not within the EU’s competence. “We believe this is a bilateral matter that can be resolved through negotiations between the two parties. We do not see the need to issue a joint EU statement,” Szijjártó emphasized.
The minister added that Hungary does not view the discussion about Greenland’s future as a matter for a Europe-wide response and will not join any EU joint statement on this issue.
