The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, stated that there has been some progress in negotiations with the United States, but emphasized that the island is not subject to sale. This was reported by Reuters.

On May 17, U.S. special envoy of Donald Trump, Jeff Landry, visited Greenland and held meetings with Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Foreign Minister Múte Bourup Egede.
Following the talks, Nielsen said that the parties had made some progress.
“We believe there is progress, and from Greenland’s side we are focused on finding a solution that is good for all of us. And most importantly — there is no threat of annexation, absorption, or purchase of Greenland and the Greenlandic people,” he stated.
At the same time, the Greenlandic side outlined its “red lines” to Washington.
Prime Minister Múte Egede stressed that the issue of selling the island is not up for discussion.
“We will not sell Greenland, we will own Greenland forever,” he said.
The American side has not yet publicly commented on the results of the meetings.
According to Reuters, Greenland, Denmark, and the United States had previously agreed to hold high-level diplomatic talks to reduce tensions, but their outcomes have not yet been published.
