The Budget Committee of the Bundestag has approved Germany’s draft state budget for 2026 with total expenditures of about €524.5 billion. One of the key decisions was a significant increase in financial support for Ukraine — more than €11.5 billion.

The biggest changes to the draft were introduced by Germany’s Ministry of Finance, proposing an additional €3 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defense. The funds will go toward artillery systems, drones, armored vehicles, and the restoration of two Patriot installations.
Thus, the amount of aid to Ukraine increases from the previous €8.5 billion to €11.5 billion — the largest contribution Germany has made to strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities since the beginning of the war, according to the German Ministry of Defense.
The funding will be made possible by easing internal restrictions on defense spending, which Germany revised in light of the security situation in Europe.
Although the budget still needs to be formally adopted during the Bundestag session scheduled for November 25–28, the Budget Committee’s conciliation meeting is considered the decisive step toward its approval.
