📰 This was reported by Spiegel. The German government has not officially confirmed the leadership change yet, but the decision was made some time ago, according to the publication.
🏛️ The current head of the BND, Bruno Kahl, will reportedly move to the diplomatic service — he is expected to be appointed ambassador to the Vatican.
🔄 With Jäger, one of the leading crisis diplomats, taking office, structural reforms are expected within the BND.
💶 To modernize the service, increased funding is planned. The federal government also intends to grant the intelligence agency more flexibility in foreign operations and technical information gathering.
